A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Segun Adewale, popularly known as Aeroland, has declared former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the “Messiah” Nigeria needs, citing his unwavering contributions to both the party and the nation.
In a strong defense of Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition, Adewale dismissed concerns that the move could fracture the PDP. He argued that the real threat to the party’s success lies not in Atiku’s candidacy but in the internal divisions and anti-party activities by certain members, notably mentioning Chief Bode George.
Adewale stressed that if not for internal sabotage, the PDP would have clinched victory in the 2023 elections. “Atiku remains a critical figure. The problem is not him — it’s the betrayal from within,” he said. According to him, disunity and personal agendas, especially in pivotal states like Lagos, cost the PDP dearly in the last election.
He called on party leaders to refocus their energy on rooting out internal betrayals and emphasized that unity, not division, would determine the PDP’s success in 2027.
Despite the criticisms, Aeroland remains steadfast in his belief that Atiku Abubakar is the most qualified and experienced candidate for Nigeria’s future, describing him as the hope Nigeria needs in these challenging times.
This statement comes amid growing speculation about PDP’s strategy ahead of 2027 and reinforces Atiku’s influential role within the party structure.
